Ashanti Foolish

“Foolish” is the debut single from Ashanti’s 2002 self-titled album Ashanti. And, interestingly, it’s a much better song if you watch the video along with the song.
Why? Well, partly because Terrence Howard plays a big part in the action of the story. It’s the tale of a romance between him and Ashanti wherein he woos her, cheats on her and is sent packing.
Of great interest, however, is, the fact that the video has actual voiceovers at points. There isn’t the usual silent talking in-video, you get to see what these people are actually saying to each other.
So it’s no surprise that the video was a three-time nominee at the 2002 Much Music Video Awards, not to mention a major hit on the U.S. charts. Now, if only other songs could tell stories so well…
